Get a jump start on preparing for your Springtime Home Swimming Pool Re-Opening and educate yourself on steps you’ll want to take this Spring with the helpful advice found in this Swimming Pool Re-Opening Guide For Spring!
The very first thing you want to get out of the way is a simple cleaning. Remove or pump any leaves, debris, or water that may be sitting on top of the cover. Some water may get back into your pool and that’s okay, but you definitely want to limit the amount of debris going back in. Once your cover is cleared, you can remove the cover.
Remove your pool cover
Remove any leaves and debris off of the winter pool cover. If you use a solid cover, drain the water off the cover using a submersible pump.
Raise The Water Level Back To Normal
Use a garden hose to fill the water level in your pool back to its normal level. This is typically around the middle of the skimmer opening or halfway up the tile.
Once your water levels are good, the next thing you should focus on is your pool equipment. First, reinstall any plugs from your filter, pump, and heater that you removed during winter. Hopefully, you remember where you put them. Remember to put back any pump or skimmer baskets as well.
Test Your Pool Chemistry
Once the circulation system has run for several hours, you will want to test your pool water for pH, Total Alkalinity, and Chlorine levels using a good test kit.
